Guide
A Shopify competitor sales tracker, honestly
Updated
The public catalogue of a Shopify store holds no order counts, so no outside tool can read sales from it. You can track launches, removals, price changes, sold-out variants and the best-seller order. Storeprobe Pro turns those into signals marked est.
What the catalogue holds
A Shopify store’s public product catalogue lists each product with its publish date, tags, and variants with price, compare-at price and whether each is available. It has no order counts and no revenue. A tool that shows sales for a store you do not own is guessing from something else, so ask what it guesses from.
What you can track from it
- Launches. Products whose publish date is new since your last read.
- Removals. Products that vanished. A read cut short by the page cap does not report these.
- Price moves. A variant’s price, and its compare-at price, which shows when a markdown starts or ends.
- Availability. Variants that go sold out or return.
- Best-seller order. The store’s own ranking, read from its collection page, which shows who climbs.
How the estimates work
Storeprobe Pro turns two reads into sales signals. The signals record a product that moves at least three places in the best-seller order, variants that sold out or came back, and a product whose update time moves while price and title do not and no variant flips, which is flagged as stock probably adjusted. Each signal is marked est. It tells you where to look, not how many units sold.
A routine that works
- Pick five rivals and read each one now.
- Read them again in a week. Free keeps one store at a time, so Pro is what lets you hold all five.
- Look at launches that also climb the best-seller order. Those are the ones worth a closer look.
Pro is €29 a year or €59 once. Storeprobe runs on Microsoft Edge today, with Chrome and Firefox in review. It keeps growing from user feedback, and the roadmap page takes suggestions. For the comparison with a hosted tool, see Storeprobe vs PPSPY.
Questions
Can I see how many orders a Shopify store gets?
Not from the public catalogue. It lists products, prices and availability, and no order counts. Any figure that claims to be sales is an estimate.
What can a tracker honestly follow?
New launches, removed products, price and compare-at price changes, variants going sold out or back in stock, and the store's own best-seller order.
What does Storeprobe's est. mean?
Pro builds sales signals from changes between two reads: best-seller rank moves, variants sold out or restocked, and stock adjusted without a price or title change. They are marked est. because they are not order counts.
Is there a free sales tracker?
Free shows launches, best sellers and what changed since your last read for one store. The sales signals are Pro.
